The 70th Annual
William F. Eddy Jr. Track & Field Meet "The Eddy Meet"

January 2010

Dear Track and Field Coaches:

We personally want to invite you to this year’s 70th Annual William F. Eddy Jr. Track & Field Meet. Currently the Eddy Meet is one of the most competitive events on the east coast and offers some of the best competition for track and field events in the northeast.  It attracts hundreds of top-level high school athletes from around the area.  Much time and energy goes into organizing a meet of this magnitude.  It is one of the oldest and finest interscholastic track and field meets of its kind. The meet will be held on Saturday May 15th, 2010 at Union College in Schenectady N.Y.  The running trials and field events will begin at 9am.  There will be a concession stand available during the meet.  Commemorative Eddy Meet t-shirts will also be sold.  We are using Direct Athletics (www.directathletics.com) entry service.  There is nothing to download; just create a username and password to start entering athletes or teams.  We will not be putting up seed cut offs on Direct Athletics due to problems in the past. We want to remind all Coaches that this is a quality and competitive meet.  Please put your seed times as to what your athletes have actually run. Last year we had a very competitive field and in order to maintain the nature of this meet and continue in that direction, we need accurate seed times. Feel free to look at last year’s results, which you can obtain from www.finishright.com. Keep in mind that last year’s results involved very windy conditions.  Due to the high number of jumpers last year we will only be allowing the top 15 Boys and Girls to compete, which flights will be used. The top 15 Boys & top 15 Girls will be posted the day before the meet on www.finishright.com.

Entry fee: $15.00 per individual per event and $30.00 per relay team OR $80.00 for Boys/$80.00 for Girls OR $130.00 combined school.

To make those changes the officials will have the list of entries for each event taped to a table located on the south side of the infield grass (near the high jump area). During the meet if you have any scratches please give ample time to the officials so the heats or flights can be adjusted accordingly.

notify the field event officials when they leave and then return on time.

Athletes continually warned to stay off the infield will be disqualified.

6.            “Check In Area” will occur at the officials check in desk, which will be located on the south side of the infield grass (near the high jump area).

7.            It is the athlete’s responsibility to be at the “Check In Area” on time.  All members of relay teams

must report (Relay teams must comply with the uniform rule).

8.            All team members must have school issue uniform.

9.            There are six awards for each event including Relays. Awards will be given out throughout the                 meet at the center of the infield grass on the podium.  If an athlete can not pick up his or her award we ask that a team representative pick it up for them.

10.        Qualifying standards for track and field events have been established from past performances.

11.        NO RADIOS WITHOUT EARPHONES WILL BE ALLOWED.

12.         The competition area is all that area inside the metal fence and surrounding areas near the Shot and Disc area. NO ELECTRONICS OR JEWELRY IN THE COMPETITION AREA.

14.        Please bring your own starting blocks, it is unknown if Union College will have any to provide.

15.        The uniform rule will be enforced.

16.        We DO NOT have trainers at the meet, but The Schenectady Fire Department and Mohawk Ambulance Service paramedics will be at the meet to assist with any injuries.  They are volunteering their time, along with many off duty Police Officers from Schenectady, so please thank them. We still recommend that all teams bring their own first aid kits.
